The cutting from the Telegraph is being circulated with the claim that the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was accused of raping a girl long back in 1987.
The concerned report dated June 8, 1987, stated that a 19-year-old IIT Kharagpur student, Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by police on rape charges. While Kejriwal had been a student of IIT Kharagpur, his current age of 48 years matches with the age mentioned in the report in 1987.
"Police said that the student, 19 years old boy named Arvind Kejriwal had gone out with friends on Friday night for a party but didn't return to the hostel. All his friends had come back by wee hours of Saturday but Arvind returned only on Sunday night. Meanwhile, a case was registered in Gopalnagar police station by a girl who accused a student of raping her. She produced the identity card of the accused, which was of Arvind Kejriwal and that is how police reached IIT campus to arrest the accused," the report claimed.
The paper cutting was shared on Oct 6, 2018 on Twitter.
The same cutting had gone viral in 2016 as well.
